If you believe in equity of opportunity for women and girls - whether on campus, at work, or during a healthy and financially secure retirement, then AAUW San Diego is for you. If you would like camaraderie, intellectual stimulation and company of women who make a difference, then AAUW San Diego definitely is for you.

Equity means freedom from bias or favoritism and includes the quality of being fair or impartial. The San Diego branch of AAUW exists because gender equity is still an issue. Along with AAUW California and the national American Association of University Women, we advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.

Founded in 1911, AAUW San Diego is the original “mother” AAUW organization in San Diego. We serve metropolitan San Diegans who live primarily within a 20 mile radius of Mission Valley/Uptown San Diego.

Membership in AAUW San Diego is open to all graduates who hold an associate’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There are no barriers to full participation in AAUW San Diego on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.

We invite you to join us as agents of life enhancing education and social change in San Diego. Our Tech Trek and Local Scholarship programs put us in touch with inspiring middle school through collegiate young women who are guarantors of the equitable future for which we all dream.

By joining AAUW you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.
